Some Problem with my USB drive

Hey guys, so far I have a question about booting from my USB drive.
I was wondering if there's a way to make a computer boot from my USB drive without setting the BIOS.
I mean as long as I plug my drive in the port and turn the power on, the computer 'smartly' boot.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

The only way I know about to do that is by doing it through the BIOS. I really don't see why you won't change the boot options in BIOS?

And another thing you can surely use to boot the USB without changing BIOS settings is use PLoP Boot manager: http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagers.html
Burn it to a CD, pop the CD into the cd tray and boot from a CD. Boot manager will open where you can choose the media to boot, in this case a USB stick.

With PLoP boot manager you can also boot from USB if the computer doesn't even support booting from USB

Of course this^ method will only work if your computer boots from a CD first and HDD second.

I forgot the BIOS password and I really don't want to deal with the case.

But with burning the ISO into CD, isn't the USB drive going to be formatted first? Well in that case I don't know how to install a system:( Would there be some more information?

If you forgot the password, remove the BIOS battery and put it back in.

Why? If you just simply forgot the password that you setup, then you can simply powercycle the BIOS.

If I remember correctly, I think that you can boot from an external disk by holding the shift key when starting the computer. Not sure though, the other way would be to do what techb said.

It will not format your USB drive... why should it? burn it to a CD like a regular image, then insert your flash drive and boot the CD. Insert flash drive before booting because I don't think PLoP supports hotswap.
When the CD boots just select your USB drive and it will start to boot from the USB.

And I'd like to know as well why can't you just reset the bios? if it doesn't reset with battery removed then you need to short out the jumpers. Where they are depends on your mobo.

Sorry about that, I was just trying to learn some new things since I know how to remove the battery.
