Arch linux boot problem

didnt think i'd need arch linux install assistance again, but it seems im lost. trying to install to another pc, and i keep getting the 'no configuration file found' error. ive tried multiple copies of archlinux, made sure the USB was formatted correctly, but it still refuses to cooperate. Is there anyone who could help me resolve this issue? ( this is my attempting to resolve the matter of needing to start over on the old pc, as it has windows XP, and I would rather start with a clean slate.

If this problem occurs at USB boot, try formatting the USB drive to FAT16. Some people claim it is a filesystem<>bios problem.

more than likely, i guess, this is a bios problem this old thing has been dying for years,it seems its hardware can't handle any more >.< so, somehow, I shall have to manage with just a laptop with vista taking up most of the space, and arch trying to get in edgeways... goddamnit, sometimes i wish i didnt need programs relying on microsoft.

I am sure your computer can last a few more years, you just have to do a few workarounds.

apologies, and yeah, its 9 years old now, if the copyrights are anything to go by.  as for workarounds, I'm clueless. now, if i could try another media than USB, it may work, but i doubt it... before i dug out this PC, the disc drive was seizing up often. I think I'll just have to put up with this until I can peice together a new computer. which would take me forever on my current budget XD

Are you sure the flash drive works? Can you try it in another computer just to see if it boots?
If you're writing iso's to it a lot it might have finally gave up

it worked a couple of days ago, when i used it to install archlinux onto my laptop. and hell, i can still go into the damn thing on that laptop. It just will not find the config file. i even put it right at the top of the tree, to make it's job easier! and it still can't find it. and no, i havent written alot of isos... been keeping it to a minimum.

How did you burn Arch to your USB in the first place?

Universal USB installer, It's one of the ones listed on the Arch linux site, and well, it worked fine on the last two distributions I installed somewheres.

Try using the dd command. I've noticed alot of the time that just about any other way of burning Arch causes problems when trying to boot from usb.

Syntax is as follows:

dd if=/path/to/iso of=/dev/sdaX
