CPU is on fire

At work and sometime at home my PC always hangs and sometimes wouldn't function anymore, I asked a friend about this problem and he told me that this problem might originate from CPU being overheated. So I downloaded an app to monitor the CPU temperature.

What should I do to keep the temp normal. I'am at work now and there is no AC in the room and the temp outside is > 30 C

1. Clean the computer fans and make sure they are all running
2. If problem is still there, buy a new CPU fan
3. If problem is still there, check the BIOS and make sure nothing is overclocked
4. If problem is still there (odd), buy a water cooled system
5. If problem is still there trash the shit and buy a new computer...

On a sciency note... it is impossible for a CPU to ignite.

Pretty much what Ande said.

Get a good Coolermaster (think that's the brand) CPU fan. The Thermal paste stuff is easy.

Correct me if i'm wrong people but sometimes the fans have a one-time thermal paste thing on them? I know the one that came with my i5 processor did, but the fans you buy seperately don't.

Correction: FANS DO NOT HAVE THE THERMAL PASTE ON THEM! Its the Heat Sink which has the paste applied on its base..

Well, its always better to apply the thermal compound on the cpu...

Its not that simple to apply a thermal paste.. Perfect cleansing of the previous paste followed by application of the thermal compound in the right manner + quantity gives you satisfactory results..

However, if your cpu is not overclocked, you probably dont need a new heat sink..

I'm not an expert on this sorry xD Only fan I have seen has the heatsink attached to it in-box .. I had no trouble with removing + applying thermal paste though. Although I suppose it's best to be careful, but nothing to get nervous over. I saw a youtube video on it though, and I'd done something similar with an old YLOD ps3.
