[HELP] Creating a Bootdisk
« on: May 07, 2012, 11:31:47 PM »
Ok now I know there are several boot disks out there such as UltimateBootCD, Hiren's BootCd, Geek Squad MRI, etc. The list goes on. HOWEVER I would like to create one myself. Why? Because All the other crap have 1. Shit I don't want or need or 2. Shit I want but not available. I do PC repair and this tool that I hope to create will make it simple when I go to repair computers. Here's how my shits going to work.

Bootdisk
-Memory Tools
-AV Tools
-BIOS Tools
-HD Tools
-CPU Tools
-Boot Management
-Recovery Tools
-Registry Editors
-LiveWin7PE
-Win7Installer (Custom Win7 Image)

Now I've done some research and I feel it should be fairly simple.

The issue I'm having is how the hell to a take an EXE and make it bootable. Of course the project will be shared on EZ, but first I need some help!

Lets say I want to put EasyCleaner on my boot disk (http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm) how would I take that EXE (or zip) and be able to add it to my bootable disk as an option in my menu. Once I figure that out I will be able to start piecing together my boot disk.

shown how to do...

WONDERFULL!!! Exactly what I was looking for. So I'm going to be adding tools to an MS-DOS shell, so if the programs are compatible with MS-DOS I'm good to go. Thanks, and be on the look out for my boot disk ;) it will be EPIC!!

Looking forward to a disk image. I've been wanting to get a good tool set for repair, and coming from EZ members would be cool.

Looking forward to a disk image. I've been wanting to get a good tool set for repair, and coming from EZ members would be cool.

My main goal is to create a program where you can add ISOs and MS-DOS applications, create a boot menu and then create a bootable ISO so you can hand pick the tools that you want then we can put it on a CD/DVD as well as USB boot disks. Will be EPIC... However my first goal is to successfully make a boot disk, then I can create the program to automate the process. I might make it in VB, or Action Script (like my iTStealer 2.0 app) Although I may just make it VBS/Batch scripts to automate the process... We'll see. Going to be working on this when my girls at work... She's off the next 2 days so come Thursday/Friday I should have a good base built for beta testing ;)

The main things I'm concerned about is to have diag tools as well as a WinPE environment as I find it very useful. Pretty much its going to be like the Geek Squad MRI disk (check out SoldierX affiliate they cracked and released the Geek Squad MRI disks) Then my personal boot disk will have a pre activated win7 ultimate x64/x86 with shit I commonly install on machines (AV, CCleaner, WinRAR, uTorrent, Firefox with a few extensions, FileZilla FTP Client, MS Office, IMGBurn, Jave Runtime, Flash Player, etc.) That way after running diags on the system I will be able to back up data, reload, then restore the data then GET PAID lol

NOTE:
As I said for the next 2 days I'm not going to be doing much with this, HOWEVER if any members have any suggestions as far as MS-DOS diag tools, or other features. I can even throw a slimmed down version of linux distros (such as pen drive linux or SlitaZ aircrack distro) SO, if any of you members have an idea for an application that should be added to have please post.

Programs so far:
Memtest86+
AV Rescue Disks (May not add all of them Kaspersky, BitDefender, Avira, and AVG)
!BIOS
CMOSPSWD
Registry/Admin Pass Re-setter
EasyClean

I will be adding more to the list as I download them (kind of stopped for a while when I was trying to figure out how to put apps (exe) on a bootable image (now I know to use MS-DOS, or Free-DOS then I can use any MS-DOS programs :) Then also for more advanced programs I can include them in the WinPE so it would have old programs as well as new programs

I remembered this one great tool that saves me when I have to deal with old machine. It's PLOP Boot Manager!
http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagers.html

Burn to CD, boot it up, boot anything. With this baby you can boot from USB even if the BIOS doesn't support it :)
