btw, I'm in computer science and if you are too, my suggestion for you would be to get back to middle school where they teach you how to draw in Paint

When you attach a picture with your post it gets stored in out database and it's obvious that you have to show your post what image to show, so you paste the link in and that is it. Don't complain to me about it, complain to the SMF developers.
