"Command and Conquer" mini-review
« on: September 19, 2013, 12:27:07 PM »

The first installment, Command & Conquer, was released worldwide by Westwood on August 31, 1995. The plot is set sometime in the near future where the Earth becomes infected by a mysterious resource known only as Tiberium. A global war ensues between the UN formed Global Defense Initiative to contain it and the cult quasi-state revolutionary Brotherhood of Nod, led by the enigmatic Kane, which seeks to harness it. Highly successful, it was followed by Command & Conquer: Red Alert in 1996 which is set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union wages war with the Allied West. Developed as the prequel to the original, the Red Alert series was spun-off into a separate, lighthearted and comic series, while the original game and its sequels became known as the "Tiberium" series, retaining its sci-fi and serious tone. The first game is sometimes referred to as Tiberian Dawn as a result.

My input:

I know techb loves this game as much as I do. But I must admit that I haven't played all of the games in this series. The ones I played were "Command and Conquer" (the very first one, released in 1995), "Red alert" and "Red alert 2" and "Yuri's revenge". The one I loved the most were "Red Alert 2" and even now I occasionally play skirmish missions. The game is amazing.
All of the games have an interesting story with great cutscenes. Did you know, that Yuri was voiced and played by Udo Kier? yeah.

If anyone of you want to play it, I have most of the games uploaded here: http://m33-x7.evilzone.org/archive/Games/Command_and_Conquer/
And of course, you have to listen to CnC soundtracks, they awesome: http://m33-x7.evilzone.org/archive/Games/Command_and_Conquer/CnC_OST/

Have a nice day.

Of all the CNC games I have played, Supreme Commander 2 was my favourate. I suggest you give it a try. Also, my favourate faction is UEF.
Long live UEF (united earth federation) and death to Cybran (chip heads) and Illuminance (weird scums).
You are dismissed commander.

However, "Supreme Commander" does not seem like a real-time strategy game, with robots and aliens and lasers... Actually "Red Alert 3" wasn't that much fun either. and went to the different direction.. it went for the unreal gameplay, like your Supreme commander.

I suggest you watch some gameplays or tournaments.

It is the ultimate RTS game i'd say. And whart makes this RST war game soo fun to play is it's views, you can zoom in  to go upclose in a small battle to personally give your units multi commands (like keep mooving and firing) to beat the odds. And zoom out to get wide range map view which is best for commanding like 500 units in many squads. It's totally customizable. And the experementals, oh they took my breath out.

EDIT: Humm, damn I over looked your last openion,
well, Suprime commander's theam is "future wars bitwen three planets" and future is alwys unreal to the present. Men flying in the sky was unreal in the past, wasn't it?

Yes, but Command and Conquer is a real-time strategy game (it means it happens with technology humanity owns today), while yours is inter-galactic warfare. That's how these games differ, and I'm not saying Supreme commander sucks, because I haven't played it.

I see you have a misunderstanding about RTS, "Real Time" doesn't mean the game components will be from present and what is real.
"Real Time" in RTS means that the game/gamers will interact to your actions while you are making and executing your strategies.
Chess is not a RTS game because the a player may only take action after the other has  made his/hers. Hope you got the point.
