Taking on data entry jobs as a scraper programmer
« on: September 05, 2013, 10:44:14 PM »
I've been improving my ability to write web scrapers lately and I was reminded of a manual data entry job I did a few years ago. It took me weeks of 9 to 5 work to get the job done. With what I know now, I could have spent a couple of hours writing a script and would have had the job done in under 24 hours. Have any of you taken on a data entry job, which they expect you to do manually, and made a spider to do the job for you?

This is normal. Usually your superior doesn't want to know how you do it, he just wants the results. And if you can, why not automate the task. Let the computer do hard work for ya while you make a cup of coffee.
