phone as wifi aerial

If my pc doesnt have wifi could i use a usb cable to connect my phone to the pc and use the phones wifi on the pc, kind of like a wifi aerial would.  Using samsung galaxy y gingerbread

I don't mean tethering I have tethered my phone to pc before but i used usb cable tether, for me to wifi tether my pc would need wifi.  However I mean something different, I will try to explain better.
My pc doesn't have wifi and rather than buying a wifi antenna for it I was wondering if my phone could be used instead by connecting it to my PC with a usb cable. I am trying to use backtrack which is the same OS as android so surely there must be a way of linking the wifi antenna on my phone to back track

No, it won't work like that. The closest thing you can do is getting wifi with your phone and tethering trough USB to your PC.

That's what he wants to do :/ I don't know of any apps/solutions for what you want. The phone can act like a modem, not as a replacement for a wifi card.
Also android is not the same as backtrack. Backtrack is a Linux (Ubuntu based) distro while Android only had a Linux kernel (amirite?). So both are similar to some point but not the same.

No, he wants his computer to have direct access to the phone's wifi card (or maybe I'm interpreting him wrong), which is just not possible. But you're right, tethering the way I said earlier it's not possible either.

Well Im not saying there is a point and click awnser to this but it should be possible.
You can use bluetooth for networking, do some iptables magic.
It sucks but it would be possible.

I use my phone to pick up the wifi and then tether it to my computer when I use windows but I'm sure that isn't what you want to do lol

Wifi cards are dirt cheap as well o.O also on DX, the chipsets are always nice and friendly for Wifi Hacking
