Why do you want wired, when you can have... wireLESS!
Most of my computers are pretty old, 1998, 2004, and some in between and I don't really want to buy wireless cards for them, as well as the wired connection will be a little faster. I also want to be able to remote connect into my backtrack computer through the wired and be able to use the wireless card I have with it to experiment with stuff, as I have nothing else to do at work
Why not just a hub? Your network isn't some enterprise level topology or anything. SoHo's rarely needs switches.
I suppose a hub would do the job as well, but a switch isn't that much more expensive, and I don't know if there is much difference configuring a hub and a switch, but we work with switches at my job and I'd like to be able to get the hang of it at home, see what can be done. Maybe I can just ask my boss for one of those 32 port switches...
Thanks for the suggestions skidiot, those look like what I would need.
