Breaking into school servers
« on: September 19, 2015, 04:39:41 AM »
My school has shared users so their passwords are not stored in the sam.  I was wondering how to gain access to the server that stores users' passwords.  I managed to get the local admin passwords but am not sure where to go from there; any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Do some learning before you even bother attempting any type of "hacking". Check out some of the tutorials here. Use Google and learn some things.

Although I am definitely not an expert on the topic I do know a fair bit about networking, just a bit stumped on how to get access to the domain controller from a local admin.

Go home, spin up a windows server vm and learn a little more what a domain controller is and does. It will help you learn more and save you some jail time and lost scholarships due to penalties. Not to be a dick, but there's a pretty good chance whoever set this network up knows a lot more about networking than you do.

Passwords are on the server because of LDAP, it's a domain controller and even if you break in, you can't see them. There's a good chance they are using Windows Server and ActiveDirectory, so that means Remote Desktop must be also active. If you have the local admin password, you might try it with RD on some servers if you know their names.
