"Resident Evil 6" mini-review
« on: September 09, 2013, 08:41:44 PM »

Available for: Windows, Xbox360, PS3

Resident Evil 6, known as Biohazard 6 (バイオハザード6?) in Japan, is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game and the ninth main installment in the Resident Evil series, developed and published by Capcom. Capcom defines the game's genre as "dramatic horror", however there is disagreement among reviewers whether this installment belongs in survival horror genre. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 2, 2012. The Microsoft Windows version was released on March 22, 2013.

My input:
I haven't played the game, my dad is a fan of such, and as he said, this one is more or less going on the course of the original "Resident Evil" series.
For me, I have been disappointed with the series after "Resident Evil 3" for PS1, that game was truly legendary. They just don't make games as great these days.

Today games are always some mindless running and shooting with cutscenes on every corner.
Back in the day graphics were ofcourse shitty compared to nowadays, but the games had a great and a unique story line that outweighed the graphics and effects. Packed with puzzles, a huge map to explore, enough action, gun and misc. item combos. And let's not forget the static camera that didn't follow the player and was set from 1 angle instead.
Original "Alone in the dark" (there's a remake, also shitty), Original "Silent Hill" (lots of remakes, all shitty), all had what RE3 had to offer and they were awesome games.

And what do such remakes have to offer in comparison with their originals? HD graphics, a corny storyline and too much action. No puzzles or anything that would make you think harder for a bit.

I'm done ranting, anyone else feel like me? Originals were always and will always be the best.

And to finalize my post:

That image  ;D Kulverstukas, every single word is true. Can't really remember Resident Evil 3 but for me every part after the first (directors cut ftw) was disappointing and I always had the feeling that something was missing. Not really sure if its really the case that new games can't compete with the old ones. We were young, playing games was new to us and everything is more shiney through the eyes of a child.

Cheers,
