Webmail Server not working.
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:33:47 PM »
I am trying to get my webserver to work but I'm having this problem, I posted it on LinuxForums, but I haven't got any response and I was wondering if you guys might know anything about it.

So there is a bit of background to this problem:

I have successful installed a LAMP server with postfix, dovecot, and roundcube on my 1998 compaq using the instructions on workaround.org. The screen to my old laptop recently broke, and since it is better than this old tower I figure I would try to host the website on there. I follow the exact same instructions from the site and now when I try to access mysite.com/roundcube it start loading, then my putty session cuts out, and also I can't use the network connection on the actual device. I tried it while constantly pinging google.com and it just stops. I tried installing SquirrelMail too, I could login but then the internet cut out in the middle. There have been other times in the installation the network cut out, but I wasn't doing anything special.

I get the roundcube error

"PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /usr/share/php/MDB2.php on line 393PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /usr/share/php/MDB2.php on line 2647"

I have tried several fixes that I found online but nothing has worked so far. Is the laptop just a bad thing to install a mailserver on?

Thanks,
