"Runescape" mini-review
« on: January 24, 2014, 08:44:42 PM »

RuneScape is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in January 2001 by Andrew and Paul Gower, and developed and published by Jagex Games Studio. It is a graphical browser game implemented on the client-side in Java or HTML5, and incorporates 3D rendering. The game has over 200 million accounts created and is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's largest free MMORPG and the most updated game.

My input:

This game brings me A LOT of memories. I used to play it so much few years ago with my friends and classmates. It was the shit among people of my age and even today it is quite popular.
I stopped playing this game right after it was renewed for the third version, which basically just fucked the whole game with fancyness - HD graphics, HD everything... it wasn't like it was before and before it was uniquely amazing. Simple graphics and simple gameplay.
I still have my accounts and I log on from time to time just to see what is going on, though I never reached the maximum level through my gaming time, it is still very fun to walk around and interact with people. But since they switched to fancy designs, my laptop is not powerful enough anymore to run it.
So yeah, I didn't play it through RS1 stage, I was only introduced to it when I got my first PC and that was in the RS2 stage, which was the best stage IMO and it's a real shame users can't revert back to that...I would really like to get into it again, but it's not what it was and will never be. Basically it was really sad when I decided to quit that game, but they fucked it up by "increasing the user experience", meh...

oh shit those were the days right? 2005-2008 revisions were the best, when the game was unique. i strongly regret wasting my life on this game now as my account is more than half-way maxed in skills. fucking action bar, messed up UI, bad 12yo userbase, in simple words: pure shit

you could always check out the oldschool version if you want to play the old style game though, but the player count online is too low and i can't imagine how long it would take to get a working economy going.

Do you got a cool story you would like to share bro?

I used to play this game when it was in 1st stage. Didn't even know there were more versions. Wow, I remember how my cousins and I played this for hours years ago in their basement.

Indeed this game was truly awesome and I spend hours and hours playing it... but they just HAD to force people use their new design :/ it's such a shit now.
