How do I boot OS from truecrypt external HD partition?
« on: November 20, 2013, 02:06:58 PM »
Hello
Can anyone tell me how to boot from an encrypted partition on my external hard drive? When it's encrypted by truecrypt. Also will it leave any logs on my internal drives when I boot from an external one? Like can they see it it with forensic tools that you booted from external drive?

When you do not mount and touch the internal drives and there a no bios level security systems/logs you won't be able to detect it. You will need a specialized set-up for booting a encrpyted drive, you need a preloader: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedFilesystemLVMHowto
