"Burnout" mini-review
« on: September 23, 2013, 08:23:57 PM »

Burnout is a series of high-speed racing games for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 game consoles. A Microsoft Windows version of the latest installment in the series Burnout Paradise, was also released. The game series was developed by Criterion Games and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the first two games and later Electronic Arts from the third game onwards.

My input:

I did not play all of them games in the series, I think I only played "Burnout 3", "Burnout paradise" and "Burnout dominator".
The 3rd one was the first one I have played and I remember it the most, others I don't remember so much. So the 3rd one was a cool game. It does not have a story, but rather a huge city to drive in. I really loved the pretty graphics, cool car crash physics (actually that's what Burnout is famous for - the realistic as shit crashes) and awesome events. Although after some time it gets plain and boring.
You can either participate in the events that are scattered around the city, you select those in the map viewer, or you can roam the city, and do events when you find them. Regardless of the boring gameplay, Burnout is one of the best racing games, where you can smash and crash cars and your opponents.
What I exceptionally love about Burnout is the race mode where you have to make the biggest road crash you can by accelerating to the max and driving into the junction causing a huge car pile up. You get more points for bigger crashes :P
Yeah, and TBH all of the burnout games are pretty much the same, "Dominator" was also a good, had really nice graphics for a PSP game, but the "Paradise" one was a disappointment. I cannot remember what exactly I didn't like in it, but I know I didn't like it so much that I just deleted it the same day.

I'm in the same boat as you, I played Burnout 3 more than anything, only really given the others a look or a few minutes of my time. The graphics are quite satisfying for the time it came out, the physics are awesome, the crash scenes were my favorite part. I'd always play in the domination mode and destroy all the other drivers. The vehicle selection could have been a bit more diverse, but I was satisfied with it. At one point I was driving the fastest cars for so long that half the tracks were pure muscle memory, and still probably are, but still fun as hell.
