Obama is a retard, Romney is a fucktard. Save your time from voting and do something useful with it.

I was just wondering if this could be done or not, but would there be some way in which I could use another computer that runs Pentoo to test the security of my main desktop ? Also would this be a good way to practice ethical hacking and learn to use the tools without harming anyone's system on the network ?

Thanks and I appreciate any help and feedback as well :D

Yes.

But you are on the same network, so it would be more beneficial to pentest your entire network from the outside seeing how hard it would be for someone to make it in.

Found it on the Webs / Re: Myspace is back, and with a new look
« on: September 26, 2012, 07:53:45 PM »
I personally liked myspce before Facebook but I don't see any reason to return because everyone has already migrated to Facebook and I doubt they will go back so pointless really.

Myspace didnt really have everyone to migrate from. Now aday, at least in the U.S., its hard to meet a person that isnt on facebook. In california here, you can use your facebook page as a valid form of ID for some college signups or SAT testing.

Myspace never had that kind of userbase, it was mainly for teenagers and bored people to fuck around and post where the parties were at. Nearly everyones grandparents have a facebook now.

Signed up for a few of the courses, Intro to AI just started. If any of you guys plan on joining it, it requires some knowledge of probability and bayesian statistics, but there is a refresher if you are new or forgot the basics.

C - C++ / Re: Best C++ IDE (Windows)
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:36:41 PM »
Best IDE for windows, imho, is VS. By far for debugging and code completion with direct api docs and reference etc. I hated the past few years though, I always used 2005 or 2008. If you dont want to use the IDE just add the bin dir to your path and you can use microsofts compiler directly. It is in my opinion the best option for pure windows development.

I use vim/gcc on the command line most of the time though, because I personally dont prefer IDEs.

Hacking and Security / Re: Where do I start getting into hacking ?
« on: September 24, 2012, 11:53:41 PM »
Program the web, html, css, javascript. Learn the most common web scripting languages like PHP, Python, Perl, and Ruby. Learn how they interact with backend databases. Then learn how the server stacks are setup.

Most of that is for attacking the frontend though, if you want to go directly at the servers services, then you should know what to do with your knowledge in C++ and Networking.

Operating System / Re: Lightweight OS?
« on: September 24, 2012, 06:22:15 PM »
I havent used it in ages, but DSL used to be pretty good.

Now I would recommend Fedora with LXDE, its lightweight, uses a lot less resources and is very fast.

You could bruteforce, but as said it brings a lot of noise to the admin or ids etc.

If the links are on the website somewhere, you could use a spider and pull all the <a> tags and find the links.

An old school method to find hidden/disallowed dirs is to search robots.txt, but that wont include direct file links, and only work if the admin wants those dirs to be excluded by search engines.

You could craft some google dorks, or write up a quick script to bruteforce using google, unless he disallows search engines from viewing the directories. Then again, the website would have to have been cached/spidered by google before hand.

Operating System / Re: OS for Hacking/Programming
« on: September 24, 2012, 05:27:16 PM »
As stated before, your friend sounds like hes not very knowledgeable with it. Installation should not take more then 20 or 30 minuets, if you follow the documentation. Advanced configuration and making sure you have all your drivers installed correctly should take about an hour.

The computational architecture of the brain reminds me of the ideas put forth by marvin minsky in society of mind. Perhaps the noosphere is some kind of extra-dimensional computer.

Im so fucking stoned right now.
