General discussion / Re: What Inspired You?

As a child, I wanted to know how everything worked. I was always taking apart electronics (and my mom's small kitchen appliances) to figure out how they worked and put them back together. When I was a teenager, my friends and I got our own PCs and spent most of our free time overclocking and modding. After awhile I began to get bored with hardware, so I turned to programming.

this is a good place to checkout their performance: http://zipso.net/chromebook-specs-comparison-table/
Nice. Thanks for sharing that.

If you plan to do a lot of tasks that require more processing power, then go for the better processor over the nicer screen.

Before buying on Amazon, you might want to check local stores. I wasn't even planning on buying mine, but I went in to Staples for some ink and walked out with a $99 Chromebook (it was on clearance and I talked them into selling me the floor model for an additional discount).
I purchased another over the summer for a family member at Best Buy for $159, it was an open box item. The guy who worked there said they have people return them all the time because they discover the "limited functionality".

- Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
- Perfect Dark (N64)

General discussion / Re: Current Careers & Aspirations

I work at the university that I attend. I am a teaching assistant for the intro CS course. Additionally, I work as a research assistant in my school's Compiler and HPC lab.
And I have a part-time job working at a pharmacy.

I don't plan on pursuing a career in security. I want to do something with machine learning and predictive modeling/analysis.

I run Ubuntu on my Chromebook using Crouton. I like it and haven't had performance issues or anything. I've been using it for almost a year, mostly for coding and coursework, but I also sometimes use it for more memory-intensive tasks such as data analysis and visualization using MATLAB and R.
I have this Samsung Chromebook: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Chromebook-Laptop-Celeron-Silver/dp/B00NJGRLUY/

As for the three that you listed, I would go for the Toshiba because it has a larger screen. And I personally just like Toshiba more than Acer.
