You want to have a master in "Cybersecurity" and can't research something for yourself? That is not very cyber of you.

Your post sounds like a bad troll attempt and shows zero self-motivation.

I mean you can talk big and say that you've tried over and over again, to feel better about yourself, yet I believe you've never even googled about what a IP really is.. And that doesn't leave a good impression on the community.

If you really want to know some of the basics, grab a copy of TCP/IP Illustrated(maybe a little bit outdated, but still top-notch knowledge) and lose yourself in this book. Or start with the OSI model. Or write a gui in visual basic to track IPs in facebook.

This sounded maybe a little bit harsh, but questions like yours are polluting the community and forum and this is not okay.

« on: December 13, 2015, 09:12:05 AM »
If I understood you correctly, you want to find more information about the ports that popped up during your scans and how to go from there?

A first step would be, to  ask google (like in so many other situations ;) ).

google 'port $Number'

To find useful information about the port and  the services running on it. Then you should find your way from there.

Vanity is right.

The question you asked, is perfect to type into a search-engine.

That is some fucked up shit. Looks like a live version of "House of 1000 corpses".

Do they get money for this party? Or is it just to satisfy some masochistic desires?

Being on the side of the torturers looks like a lot of fun.

Just kidding.

tl;dr: Learn how to ask the right questions with reading this tutorial: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Sadly, there is no such step that will catapult you to the Zero Cool of the new millenium in one night.

It takes blood, sweat and a whole lot of tears to make progress in this game.

But somehow you have to begin, right? And that is no crime, everyone has to start somewhere. But it makes no sense that you want to know, right from the beginning, where the l33t exploits are or how to hack the facebookpage of your friend. The absolute first step in your journey should be the obvious:

How to ask the right fucking questions, to get the knowledge you need. (And don't be a pain in the ass for the people you are asking.)

Remember, that people who are trying to give you an answer to your questions, not only sharing their wisdom, they are also sharing their precious time with you.

So the least you can do is, honoring this gift with a smart and accurate question.

I have one last request for you, padawan!

Before asking your question, click on the link I have provided and read through it. Make this a habit until you dream in smart questions. Then use your best friend google.

If you still can't find an answer to your question, the majority of the people (in the irc or forum or whatever) will gladly try to help you.

Cheers

What are your goals?

Set goals for yourself i.e "I want to become a programmer..." or "I want to learn more about cyber security" with that in mind you can divide the large topics into smaller category's to determine what you are interested in and learn from there.

In my opinion, learn everything you find interesting. You should learn more to better yourself. And in essence create potential opportunity's for career growth.

And start with the very basic. How to ask the right questions.

http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

You don't want to make a fool out of yourself by asking simple questions that could be easily answered by a simple google search.

Know the OSI model inside out

Very often I know that something is fishy, but find myself in the position that I don't want to come off as rude and I can watch myself saying or doing things although I know at this very moment that I will regret them.

I think thats where your problem is located.  You have to learn to say "no" in special occasions. For example, don't let random people into your room. If there is a strange guy in front of my door talking about crazy stuff, who is not the postman or the police or whatever, I wouldn't think twice to tell him to fuck off.

Quoting your profile: "Newbie at moment. Expanding my knowledge" and "Learning hacking"

Do yourself a favor and  ban the word "vulnerability scanner" out of your dictionary, if you really wan't to "learn hacking"

Good job! Congratulations!
