Projects and Discussion / Self replecation
« on: May 20, 2014, 01:23:08 PM »
Hey guys,

So I've been looking into self replicating code. From what I've been looking at with just some Google searches, it seems to be very easy to simple script that is able to copy itself, but no real examples of making a fully functional program that isn't designed purely to self replicate.

I was wondering if you guys had some quick examples, or could otherwise point me in the right direction.

It's not for malware, by the way.

Thanks,

Thanks for the quick responses.

Something like this:

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash

hRes = $1
vRes = $2

xrandr --newmode "$hResx$vRes.00"  173.00 $vRes 2048 2248 2576 $hRes 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode Virtual1 $vResx$hRes_60.00
xrandr --output Virtual1 --mode $vResx$hRes_60.00

Yes you are phrasing this wrong :P

I think we've all had the problem of know what we mean, but not knowing how to express it.

So, I kinda feel like an idiot because I can't figure this out. I would like to be able to use a command line argument in line with text. Not sure if the phrasing is right for what I want, but hopefully this example will help:

Code: [Select]
var1 = $1
var2 = $2

someCommand "$var1x$var2" blah blah blah

So, my problem is that the "x" is being grouped in with the variables. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the resume lol.

But seriously, I find myself in the same boat as you. Not *exactly* those scores, but enough to get into one of the best schools in the world. I always saw the physical side as just a means to an end, and not being fit just to be fit. I always wanted to work for more, hm, *special* organizations. The combination of fitness and cyberwar has put me on a pretty good track.

Dude, fuck normal people. The standard has become so low these days, normal is substandard. And in my experience, all the cool jobs don't want normal people.

i ran it through a couple different beautifiers, it still gave me the same code back

Hint: use a JavaScript beautifier

I did. The top portion makes sense to me. It's the last line thats fucking me over

Code: [Select]
    }('a 9(){4 1=3.6(\'c\');4 0=3.6(\'7\');0.2(\'8\',\'b\');0.2(\'k\',\'i==\');0.2(\'d\',\'h\');1.2(\'g\',\'e\');1.5(0);3.f.5(1);1.j()}', 21, 21, 'theInput|theForm|setAttribute|document|var|appendChild|createElement|input|name|donate|function|donate_the_monies|form|type|POST|body|method|hidden|MQ|submit|value'.split('|'), 0, {})
I have no idea what this is.

Hey guys. After a long summer, and an even longer absence, I have returned triumphant. Graduated high school, finished basic training, and now attending one of the best schools in the US. Now that I have a little more time, I will try to be a little more active on the site. How have you guys been? Manage to break anything in my absence?

Hey guys. Yep, I'm still alive. Sorry for the long absence, I'm just getting back from basic training. Anyway, I'm trying out for a competitive cyber warfare team, and the tryout is basically just a series of wargames. This one has me really stumped. Which bothers me, because it should be easy. The page looks like:

Code: [Select]
<html>
<head>
<title><3 Burritos</title>
 <script type="text/javascript">
 eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('a 9(){4 1=3.6(\'c\');4 0=3.6(\'7\');0.2(\'8\',\'b\');0.2(\'k\',\'i==\');0.2(\'d\',\'h\');1.2(\'g\',\'e\');1.5(0);3.f.5(1);1.j()}',21,21,'theInput|theForm|setAttribute|document|var|appendChild|createElement|input|name|donate|function|donate_the_monies|form|type|POST|body|method|hidden|MQ|submit|value'.split('|'),0,{}))  </script>
 <style type="text/css"> body { background-color:#281400; color:#fff; text-align:center; } </style>
 </head>
<body>
<h2>I <3 Chipotle.</h2>
 <img src="menu_burrito.png" width="672" height="376" alt=""> <br />
 Chipotle is among Shareef12's top 3 favorite things in the world. Unfortunately, due to a limited supply and high demand, burritos currently cost $10,000.00 each. <br />
However, if you donate enough for a burrito, you may be rewarded.<br />
<button onclick="javascript:donate();">Donate $0.01</button><br />    So far, $0 has been donated. <br />     That's not enough money for a burrito    </body>
</html>

The part that is messing me up is the Javascript. I've never been strong in this area, and I dont know what the fuck that means. If yall could help me, much respect.

Thanks. It's good to be back.

MOD: Sorry for the formatting of the code; that's the way it came

Hacking and Security / Re: Most embarrasing hack you've ever done?
« on: May 30, 2013, 08:48:12 PM »
Back when I was a n00b, like two years ago in sophmore year, I launched a DOS attack on my schools website. From school. From my account. It is the homepage for all the computers in the school, and it is hosted on the server that is also the default gateway connection for my school. I raped the internet for the school, for like 30 min nothing would load. For anyone. Schoolwide. Needless to say, I was grabbed by the IT guys. The next year they made a new school computer usage rule up, just for me. Proud to say I violated the whole thing :)

Interesting. So in essence, this just returns the all of services/pages available through DNS on the server?

Icon, he means Ubuntu Phone OS, not the full desktop version.

Gotcha. Saw dualbooting and thought back to this page. Didn't the phone OS also suck? Haven't played with that yet, so don't know to much about it.

Hardware / Re: Is it possible to build a computer with GPU only?
« on: April 13, 2013, 11:37:46 PM »
Short answer: Yes, but pointless.

Long answer: Not really. You would have to completely redesign the way that the OS (hell, even the boot instructions) handles commands. You would have to redo the motherboard, add a lower level of architecture to your GPU, and then reprogram the whole damned thing.  Something to do with a more basic design of the fundamental registers in the CPU <citation needed> This would result in all of the system resources being used by the GPU, instead of the CPU handling the background while GPU does the in-your-face stuff.

End result: System On a Chip (SOC). Basically what the thinking is behind stuff like the Raspberry Pi (which is really freaking cool, btw).

So doable, but would have to redesign everything, and the end result would not be worth the effort.

In my humble opinion.  8)

Good code. Had to read through it a few times. So basically it adds random words from a text file?

Android / Re: Dual boot on Android?

I did it on my Nexus 7 using these instructions: http://bit.ly/R6WBsc

As kinda pissed me off after awhile. Full OS's are NOT designed for smaller devices, or things without a mouse. Eventually went back to the original system.

AND ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF FIRST!!!
