The best measure I've seen when people ignore you trying to help them with bugs and holes in security is releasing it to the internet.

Dangerous but effective

General discussion / Re: How to make security as career ?
« on: November 28, 2014, 11:27:05 AM »
Hi Evil Guyz,

I'm new to this Forum. I'm damn interested on Hacking and Security Research. How can I get career opportunity on hacking? What are all the way to make money ethically?

lots of areas, and you are a bit vague

Pentesting is a big field, it mostly uses tools made by others but understanding connection protocols is good. Server administration would do well with some hacking knowledge. I personally want to go into system level programming which is C, C++, Java (I guess). Electrical engineering would be a must for a hardware hacker.

What specific area are you interested in?

I'd also have to learn to solder which can turn out horribly. Luckily I'm on holidays so I'll probably order some and play around.

also while I think about it, Defcon 21 had a talk about this stuff and starting out.

I'm considering it! Only problem is I have a fear of breaking things. If I could find some for cheap I'd no longer care if I broke them

I just did a unit on micro-controllers and embedded systems. We used a Teensy, it had an LCD and two lights as well as UART etc.

I made Scorched earth, was really fun. Didn't get to do as much hardware tinkering as I wanted.

Thats gray hat hacking. It happens all the time.

It's illegal because what you described would be called entrapment so it's not "good" and no police or government will ever condone it.

I can't even say I am one out loud, I might get beaten or looked down on.

Don't be afraid to trawl through old threads for info.

https://evilzone.org/hacking-and-security/where-to-start-with-hacking/

This is a good starting place, then just search the tuts section etc.

I remember making lots of stuff with legos. I even used bricks in the yard when i didnt have legos.

what is it with cubes being so popular?

I've thought of doing something like this. One improvement is social engineering options for searching.

for example most people are idiots so searching for words is the way to go

however someone intelligent would have numbers in it, probably at the end.

security experts would most likely have special characters, numbers, capital letters etc.

If it isn't required they will probably still follow these rules, if it is the website has one upped you already.

Whether this will improve speed over brute forcing every combination in order is something to test

Anonymity and Privacy / Re: Dynamic IP
« on: November 24, 2014, 08:43:52 AM »
But the ISP must have some policy to delete the logs after some time, i mean how could it keep logs of every one out of  billions of computers and also everytime the ip changes he connects?

recently in australia laws attempted to pass for ISPs to keep all logs for two years. People didn't like it.

It depends on how cool the ISP is.

If dealing with some nobody on the internet a dynamic IP once changed shouldn't be traceable except to find some location data. If dealing with the government your ISP knows what IP you have had, when and what you did while having it. This is where VPNs come in. when you use a VPN you only have connections to the VPN that then retrieves the data for you. Again, this only works well if your VPN is a bro and won't sell you out like some do.

Hope I got that right
