Matlab is incredibly complete when it comes do doing math and doing it quickly and in a rather simple way. Personally I'm not a fan because it is quite different from the other programming languages I know but the whole tool is powerful and I've seen people do incredible (eg. brain imagery) stuff using it.

I wouldn't really consider it a language either. It is strictly for math and graphing. As much as a language than what you would use to script a graphing calculator.

Good for what its used for though.
