Title: What music do you listen to whilst being productive/"hacking"?
Post by: PH03N1X on March 28, 2011, 12:14:44 AM
That is of course, provided you can concentrate with it playing. :)

I like to listen to it quietly, just find that perfect balance, and nothing too racy either. That's when I start to get things wrong :D

I listen to the same music in most situations. And that would be dubstep / drum n bass. However, I listen to anything that sounds good really :)

I listen to the hum of my computer's fans.

Same here. I don't like listening to music when I'm coding or doing anything else that needs massive concentration, or I put the TV on without any sound and listen for that ultra-sound it makes. So in short, I don't listen to anything has a beat while I'm coding.
But when I need to chill a little I mostly listen to all branches of house music, some rap/hip-hop, drum'n'bass... I listen to anything that I find pleasant to my ears :P

Dubstep, DnB. And not that slow "wobble" or "deep bass". The good dubstep.

If I'm hacking, usually the same music I was listening before (usually rap to keep awake :P),  but when it gets to coding, then I usually listen to my fans to :P
Depends on the mood and on the intensity, you don't really need to be focus while waiting for the crawler to finish its work  xD

I have discovered trance! it is the best thing to listen to when coding so I have loads of Armin van Buren shows :D
Simple, constant beat, not too loud, rarely there are singing (because I discovered that singing really is annoying and you can't concentrate). Really good when coding :P

I've never got around to try it but electronic music always seemed suited for coding, not just trance. But mostly trance, lolol.

Pretty much anything that has no words in it and has a constant beat is OK for coding.  But I couldn't code listening to the tractor engine starting up :D

YES!! you should look up DJ Eros on itunes...he has a podcast called 'the perfect mix' and all his tracks are three+ hours with very little talking...MOST of his tracks are nice and smooth...perfect for concentration...   DJ Tiesto is good too but in his new stuff he talks a lot more....try it and let me know.. 8)
