Sony PS1 and PS2 has a block of plastic that says "Memory Card" - it's where you save your progress, but those don't have a password :D

And depending on what it is, how is it locked? Is it encrypted?

Yes.

How exactly is it password protected? Encrypted? You sould be able to just insert it into any card reader and pick things out of it if its just some stupid mobile restriction.

My friend once had a similar problem - he set the password on his SDCARD with the phone. He then could use the card as normal in the phone, but whenever he would put it in a reader or other thing, the card would not be accessible... he managed to remove the password somehow, but I can't remember how.

yes it is the same problem,it was working on my phone but required a password on any other phone. And now after i flashed my phone,it is asking for a password that i don't remember.

it is not encrypted.its just a password stored in the phone memory which must be gone when i flashed the phone.

I see. Perhaps this will help: http://www.ehow.com/how_4918797_unlock-sd-card.html (http://www.ehow.com/how_4918797_unlock-sd-card.html)

I am still confused, if it is not encrypted. How can it be locked? Different filesystem perhaps? What sort of phone are we talking about?

I had this problem few weeks ago. I sent all my music, videos and stuff via bluetooth to another device. (approx 5 GB !! that was real pain) Don't know any coding. I'm a noob so..

Then formatted SD card. I have Nokia 5800. And did a hard reset. And now works fine. Don't know if you can give it a try..
