Title: VMware & Virtual Machines

Hey guys,

How do I setup a VM? I want to familiarize myself with the metasploit framework before I actually do any real hacking and I read something about "vmware". What do most people do? I also read that there is a metaploit vm called "metasploitable. How can I set all of this up and get to practising?

Get VMware player from here: http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

Then get metasploitable from here: http://www.offensive-security.com/metasploit-unleashed/Metasploitable

VMWare is commercial and for windows only. No? but I hear that is effin good.
Very good alternative is VirtualBOX, which is free and comes for most Linux distros as well.
Personally I use VirtualBOX all the time, mainly because it's more lightweight than VMWare and it works same as WMWare...

VMware player is free.

In my humble opinion VBox is the majic. Can make kung fu very strong  ;)
