Title: How can I make a Blackberry Internet Service(BIS) work on iOS and android?
Post by: Brushes on May 07, 2014, 01:51:24 AM
Hey Guyz, please I need your help on this and I know I'm getting the solution from here.

Blackberry device users in my country enjoy the highest & most affordable data cap compared to iOS, android and other device users. For example; BB users are given a monthly data cap of 5GB at $10 while the same data cap for iOS, android is served around $150 from the same ISP.

In my country, a SIM with Blackberry Internet Service BIS plan only works on BB devices.

How can I make the BIS work on my iPhone and android since it's more affordable?

Thanks!

This is a really weird problem, never heard of such a thing that ISP can detect the phone type and block/increase tariffs for internet access accordingly... that's just stupid.
However, I don't know if BB supports this, but you can try Tethering. Just make BB as a wireless hotspot and connect to it from your other phones.

Thanks for replying. I really do appreciate. Yeah, some BB devices support tethering while some don't. For example; BB 10 series support tethering while non-10 series BB don't.

The BB 10 series device users are also charged the same way the android and iPhone users are charged.

I thought there could be a way of masking my SIM using an app to make it appear like it's a BB to my ISP.

Thanks for your contribution.

RIMs Blackberry Internet Service provides a possibility to connect your phone to the RIM Servers. The RIM Servers get the emails for you or retrieve the webpages your phone requests. Thats not the same as a 3G/4G Subscription. For your reference:

Both BES and BIS allow your BlackBerry to get email, as well as retrieve webpages and use third-party applications (like WICKSoft Mobile Documents!). All traffic from your phone goes to the BES / BIS server, and then the BES / BIS server communicates with the world on your behalf.

Very true. There's a form of compression done by the RIM servers so that the requested data you received isn't of the same size as the original. Don't really know how to explain this. This explains why a 3gig BB subscription is far 3 times cheaper than a normal 3gigabytes data subscription.

To use a BB plan on your android device or PC, all you need is find out the APN you carrier uses. Some still use the common blackberry.net APN. Most have changed theirs though having realised that customers use these plans on their PCs.

You seem like one writing from Nigeria.

In my country we use the APN of the ISP by creating new in android device, but few days fast Almost all the ISP blocked that way, but still it works sometimes by using BlackBerryx.net.

Using BlackBerry  service now is simple, you can try using APN changing For e.g using etisalat network is blackberryx.net MTN is blackberry.net or if you are like me prepare the just once done you will have to change your IMEI number to blackberry one, so you will enjoy BIS.
