Title: Faking caller IDs

Got into some shit with prank calls, heh.

Anybody know free services that don't suck or how I can set one up for myself?

Yes that is true , however the SIP provider must support it or if the asterisk box is using a ISDN card the telephone company must allow spoofing CID's.
In many countries this is prohibited.
I know some SIP providers who do allow doing this though.

On android you have prankdail and caller id spoof. Voip is another option on a computer

I believe Skype also allows spoofing caller IDs, but you need to buy credits to call to phones.
