Title: backtrack wicd bad passwords

Ok, i google over 2 hours this problem and am getting sick of it. I have correct passwords for over 10 wifis around me and every time i try to connect ti with from backtrack-wicd i get bad password, only wifi network which "sometimes" doesnt give me bad password is my own. I saw lots of posts that its bug, its devs fault, router not supported etc etc but there is no "official" answer from anyone. I know backtrack is not supported anymore but i cant belive that 2 hours of google cant find any useful info.

I had problems with WICD too, maybe similar to these. In WICD you have to choose the type of password a network accepts, cannot remember correctly as it was a long time ago.

Your chipset probably sucks, let me guess you have broadcom.
What chip do you have?
"kali does not support this" mean absolutely nothing you would have to look for debian and the chip you have since it is just a debian distro with a bunch of tools on it.
Also I wish someday people will stop telling kids about kali/backtrack when they are not even capable of driver management on linux.

I use Ralink RT3070L (gsky) same chipset as alfa.

try ditching the network managers and connect using the command line and see if that solves it.


ex:


ifconfig wlan0 up


iwconfig wlan0 essid [put essid to connect to] key [wireless key]


dhclient wlan0

Run wpa_supplicant with the -d option.
Also give us a lsmod
