Title: Idea for a web project - getting personal information from twitter?
Post by: barbles on July 22, 2013, 03:21:27 PM
I was thinking of writing a web app that scans twitter for people's personal information.

Emails and phone numbers are two examples.

What other interesting information apart from those two do you think people might be giving out? I'd like to hear some thoughts.

Getting geolocation from pictures would be a nice feature, for example. Also, if you intend to stay on the forums, don't forget to post an introduction.

There is this tool called cree.py it collects Geo data from twitter and puts that in a map.
Something along those lines would be interesting.
In fact you could make a top 10 of someones whereabouts.
Determine which route they take to go to work , all sorta scary shit.
Times when they are home.... Or not at home.

Fact is that cree.py exists which does the job, although perhaps not as in depth as your concept.

It uses an outdated version of the Twitter API and is allegedly being rewritten, however... so this may be your shot.
