I'm sorry to bother you all, but what the hell is this new replacement to karma "Give a cookie"?. And why it has a low value than the karma?
Karma = 180
Cookie = 134
What kind of calculations were made to come up with this?

You weren't really around when we had the karma system. The proper one. Maybe the admins thought it was strange to have an applaud sign only. Cookie is better alone. But if smite comes back, Applaud will come with it.

I had 202 karma, now I have 154 cookies. Not sure how it got there but it doesn't bother me. Just a number anyway.

No not really, thats kinda weird isnt it, on the other hand , coding a bot that would make xxxx cookies an hour would be wicked.

At the moment giving a cookie is the same as adding one without taking one from yourself. Same goes for stealing a cookie, you take one but you dont get one.
We could make it so the cookies function as a currency, you give and you take. But that would always limit the amount of cookies in circulation unless we add new ones from time to time. This will also make it harder for new members to give cookies because they would start with 0.
What do people think?

i dont like the idea frankly, i think it would encourage cookie hording. By that i mean lets take say geXXos. He posts massive amounts of content, i often find that i cant even karma him as much as i want to because of the one hour rule. Now if you make it where i can truely "run out" of cookies what becomes worthy of one? And while sure its an arbitrary currency that has no real value, physiologically it is a "carrot". you posted good stuff for us we give you a noticeable pat on the back. Any time you log in you can go "hey the community appreciates me spending hours searching for new sites/content that we havent seen".
If you make cookies themselves rarer, which by doing this its a given that they become rarer(infinite supply vs finite). I think this will create a "toxic" environment, which was i know part of the reason you removed neg karma to start with. in the end i think this would not only end up sky rocketing the complaint department, but ultimately make the board itself less active and less friendly for all.

Nope, just leave it the way it is.
People shouldn't think like "Ah I only have 10 cookies left, should I really give one?"

I agree with the above , it would create a weird situation.
However the idea of some kind of currency on evilzone with whatever purpose sounds interesting, interesting and aweful at the same time, the real world aint that pretty either.

unless im greatly mistaken cookies shown is your combination of old +/- karma system and that when the -karma was "removed" it wasnt so much removed as disabled, so the negative database/portion was still intact. so if you had +20 and -40 your total is -20 cookies now.

I noticed that.
However this was more of a practical aim.
Like I can have 5 cookies and eat them , however having -5 cookies is just weird.

About the cookies: yes, it's the same karma system but wrapped in a pretty cloth displaying total of the cookies. You can think of the negative cookies that you're in debt and you must contribute to pay your debt because that way people will give back your cookies.
It's a simple concept that I hope will smack some fun into the community :P the whole Karma crap was getting too... boring?

lol add a top "cookies" of the month status board top 3 get an actual package of cookies! The bottom 3 (most neg cookies) have to buy them or spend a month in stocks in the village square! its WIN WIN!
anyway on the serious side i have noticed(i suppose we will see if it keeps up) at least so far just changing the name from karma to cookies has seemed to have allowed people to have a lot more fun with the system, while maintaining its purpose. Amazing what a difference just a name makes.
