Isn't that a bit pointless? Nanotechnology and genetic engineering could provide a much more natural solution to immortality in a much more timely manner. I would hate to live as a hologram lol. Much better to simply re-code/repair what we already have.

the thing is
brain is far more complex and stronger than any of todays computers known / available to mankind
so even if we can actually copy and take all the data about it, how can we simulate it with something that does not have even half of its processing power

Simple.  you keep the data around until you *do* have enough processing power.

Moore's Law means that it would have more processing power than our brain by then. So that's not really an issue.

You know that Moore's Law will eventually break down, right? By the way, plans for a Moon base have been around since the 50s and we still don't have a Moon base so I don't see this going anywhere.

Moore's Law breaks down a bit after set date, i think. In any case, that's why i said bio-nanotechnology would be better for something like this, because with increased knowledge on reconstructing genetics, we will have much more options opened to us in that field.

We could have a moon base easily. Really no problem at all. The real issue is NASA's funding and the fact that the united states isn't quite giving innovation what it needs, while it still has the best resources to do those things. There are some things only NASA can do, but congress doesn't care much for them, it seems.

Interesting idea.. I think this is a bit unrealistic though. I'd rather just take my chances and see what happens when I die. I don't see what hope he thinks this world has.

Idk if Moore's law applies anymore. What we do nowadays is that we take the best processor we have available, and multiply it by 4, and we have a stronger quad-core processor, which really doesn't prove anything. Computer clusters are also an example of this.

::Edit:: Man I need to continue reading before posting... Thought there was nothing moore(get it? XD).
